Wendy Henderson

Hello, my name is Wendy Henderson and I would like to share some information about myself with you all. I am from New England where I did my massage training in the year 2000 at the New Hampshire Institute for Therapeutic Arts. I also did Hatha Yoga training on Vancouver Island at the Prana Yoga College prior to relocating out here.

I enjoy helping people learn how to overcome their aches and pains through the various massage techniques I practice.  Some of the techniques that I particularly enjoy are hot stone massage and orthopedic massage.  Hot Stone therapy involves the application of warmed basalt stones on the body to further enhance the muscles ability to release tension and to further induce a sense of deep relaxation.  Orthopedic massage involves discovering muscles that have become out of balance in the relationship between a muscle group and its opposing muscle group thus causing pain.  I use range of motion tests, along with resistance exercises, stretching, and a technique called myofascial release to re-educate the musculature and your nervous system.  This practice of muscular reeducation is most effective if the client then follows up the work with stretching and strengthening exercises.

My yoga practice is focused on rejuvenating all the systems of the body, such as the musculature, the nervous system, and the digestive system. Through yoga I address common problems people have, such as low back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome and foot problems.

I would love the opportunity to help you on your path to a pain and stress free existence and look forward to working with some of you in the future.
